AER is annual effective return; this term's cash is calculated from the nominal maturity rate, not AER.
Only a sampled subset of standard maturity products is included. Special, senior, online and monthly-payout FDs are excluded; rates for other banks are not inferred. Rates may change at any time. Confirm the exact product, minimum, rate and terms with the bank before investing.
Deposit insurance: CBSL currently states a LKR 1,100,000 limit per depositor per member institution (combined eligible deposits and accrued interest), not unlimited protection. CBSL deposit insurance ↗
Estimate a fixed deposit from your own annual rate and see exactly when interest and principal are paid.
Simple maturity: interest grows only on the original principal. The principal and all interest are paid once in the last month.
Monthly compounding: each month's rounded interest stays in the deposit and itself earns interest in subsequent months. Everything is paid at maturity.
Monthly payout: rounded interest is paid each month and never reinvested. At maturity, only the original principal and the last month's interest are paid.
Uses the entered nominal annual rate and equal monthly periods (annual percentage divided by 12). Interest is rounded to the nearest LKR cent, half up. For simple interest, cumulative accrual is rounded to cents; for the other methods, each month's interest is rounded. No bank rates are retrieved.
Illustrative estimate, not guaranteed returns or a bank quotation. Daily accrual, product-specific rounding, withholding taxes, fees, early withdrawal, renewal and other bank rules are excluded. Confirm terms and actual cash payments with your bank.
